Today I went to the Melbourne Zoo with my brother. Being 102 degrees and hardly any wind it was quite hot, but luckily I was able to stay safe from the sun with a few tricks :) here are a few pics from the day, including a run through of my beauty tips and tricks for a day out in hot weather. Hair wise, heat does not do me good. My hair is very curly, wavy, long and thick so as you may be able to gather humidity and being outside does not help. Anyway for this day out I decided to go for some simple french braids and then to protect my fair skin from the sun I wore a woven hat. As for make up I decided to make it as minimal as possible. For this specific day I decided to go with a Sunbum SPF 30 face sunscreen to protect my face, a little Revlon concealer on my problem areas, followed by a maybelline translucent powder. As for my eyes I used booty call by Urban Decay on my lid, followed by Tarte's Better than Sex Mascara on my lashes. Super simple, super easy. For an outfit I decided to continue my theme of simplicity. I went with some light denim high waisted shorts (american eagle), a navy blue and white loose tank top (ripcurl) , a sun hat, and some American eagle gladiator sandals. I hope this helped you out!! Let me know if you have any tips or suggestions! Thanks :)
Lily Fay xo Love on Top- For this style I pulled the top and front half of my hair to the top, simply put it in a messy bun, pinned where I needed to pin and curled the bottom half. New Years Curls- For this style I sectioned my hair into 3 sections and used my Nume Classic Curling Wand to curl my hair from the root to the tip. By curling from the root you can make sure that a lot of volume is added. I then just sealed the look with my Garnier Fructis Full Control Hairspray. New Years Eve High Pony- For this style I just kept my curls that I did for the previous popped it up in a high pony and to make it look a little more classy I took a piece of hair and wrapped it around the elastic. The Waterfall Braid- For this style I curled my hair with my Classic Nume Wand and did a simple waterfall braid in the left side of my head. Half-up-Half-down- For this final style I curled my hair with my Classic Nume Curling Wand and put the front half up and put a bow around the elastic to add a little bit more femininity to the style.
I hope this gave you some ideas for your New Years Hairstyles!! Lily Fay xo The Nume Hair wand... Wow! In my honest opinion I think this is a fabulous curling wand and it really lives up to the hype. I had heard about the Nume hairstyling tools multiple times, I had many friends raving about them so I decided to give it a try, see if it really was what everyone was saying. And I was pleasantly surprised. At a Glance When I received the package with the Nume wand I really liked the way it was presented. It was sent in this cylinder box and only took 5 days to get to me so I was very happy about that too. I thought the cylinder box was very unique and a very good way of packaging. I also loved the silver writing it looked very sleek. When you open the package the wand is kind of shoved in, there was no extra room and I had a hard time getting the wand back in the box... However the wand, when taken out, looks great, I love the metallic teal color that mine is, and I love that there was a choice of color- pink, teal, or black. The teal was very pigmented and bright and looks great. Now I know you can't judge a book by it's cover but, I also know that books with tattered covers stay on the shelf, so I definitely think Nume's design is on point. Using the Wand My hair is very thick and coarse although it does do a very good job of holding style... My natural hair is very wavy and frizzy although I use many products to tame it. Prep- I started today with 3 day hair. I had straightened it 2 days ago and now it was a little dirty so it had a lot of texture and grip to it. I find my hair is easiest to curl when it isn't freshly washed. Before I curled it I sprayed some Toni and Guy Heat Protectant Mist over the ends and used the Not Your Mothers Dry Shampoo at the roots. This is generally how I prep before using any hot tools on my hair, Using- One thing I did love about the wand was how quickly it heated up. I felt like I plugged it in and not even 30 seconds after it was hot. Although, my only complaint would be that, to my knowledge, there is no way of knowing if the wand is actually up to temperature. As it has no light or beep. I also have never used a wand without a heat setting, I generally set mine very high as my hair is so thick, but some people with finer hair like it a little lower to lessen the damage to the hair. It was definitely the perfect temperature for my hair though, as my curls came out really great. I did use the glove that the wand came with as it helped get the ends very well. As you can see the curls came out very well, they were silky and smooth with hardly any frizz which is rare when it comes to my hair.Final Thoughts I definitely would recommend this hairstyling tool to anyone looking for a good wand. I know many who have bought them and just raved about them. The other thing I love about the Nume brand, is that they always have sales. The Classic Nume Wand is $139 and I personally believe it is worth every penny, although the reason I got mine was because of the promo code they had on it. I followed Nume on instagram and they had a sale for a few hours with a promo code and I was able to snatch mine for $17.99, AMAZING DEAL. And the great thing about Nume is that they do these codes all the time. This post was not sponsered at all, My blog is filled with all my personal experiences and opinions. I hope this helped you out :) Thank you!! Lily Fay xo |
